📌 Outras expressões / Other expressions
Com licença.Excuse me. (to pass by / step away)
Desculpe.I'm sorry.
Por favor. / Obrigado. / Obrigada. / De nada.Please. / Thanks (m). / Thanks (f). / You're welcome.
Obrigado x obrigada. This word agrees with the gender of the speaker, not the listener: a man always says obrigado, a woman always says obrigada — no matter who they're thanking. You'll also hear very informal greetings like E aí?, Como vai? and Beleza? among friends and younger people — they all work as casual ways to say "how's it going?"
Dica de pronúncia — a letra M. At the end of a syllable (bom, bem, tem, também, trem, tom, som), the M doesn't close your lips the way it does at the start of a word (Maria). It just nasalizes the vowel before it. Practice with your teacher.
