Foi bom, a gente ficou em casa e finalmente deu pra descansar um pouco. E você?

It was good, we stayed home and we were finally able to rest a bit. How about you?

Bem, a gente foi pra praia, mas como choveu, a gente acabou ficando em casa.

Well, we went to the beach, but since it was raining, we ended up staying at home.

Mas pelo menos deu pra sair um pouco, não é?

At least you were able to get out a little bit, right?

📖 Como foi...? — Asking how something went

A asks "Como foi o final de semana?" — como foi + noun (preterite of ser) is the standard way to ask how an event or period went.

📖 Dar pra + infinitivo — To manage to / be possible to

Both speakers use "deu pra descansar" and "deu pra sair" — the preterite of dar pra (from Ep56's dá pra) describes managing to fit something in.

Pattern	Example	English
deu pra + infinitivo	Deu pra descansar um pouco.	We managed to rest a bit.
acabou + gerúndio	A gente acabou ficando em casa.	We ended up staying home.

💡 A gente A gente (literally "the people") is an extremely common, casual substitute for nós (we) in spoken Brazilian Portuguese — but it takes 3rd person singular verb conjugation!
