Step 3 — Language Focus

📖 Tem sim — Emphatic yes

The vendor answers "tem sim" instead of just "sim" — repeating the verb + sim is a very Brazilian way to emphatically confirm something, stronger than a plain yes.

Question Emphatic answer English
Tem mexerica? Tem sim. Yes, we do (for sure).
Você gosta? Gosto sim. Yes, I really do.
Está bom? Está sim. Yes, it really is.
📖 Me dá + quantidade — Polite requests

The customer asks "me dá uma dúzia" — me dá (literally "give me") + quantity + item is the standard, friendly way to order or request something at a market or counter in Brazil.

Phrase Meaning Example
me dá + quantidade + item give me... Me dá uma dúzia de mexerica.
uma dúzia a dozen Uma dúzia = 12 unidades.
tá bom? is that OK? / sounds good? Usado para confirmar no final do pedido.
