A: Por hoje é só. Até amanhã.

That's it for today. See you tomorrow.

B: Desculpa professor, mas amanhã eu não posso.

Sorry professor, but I can't do tomorrow.

A: Tudo bem. Você quer marcar para outro dia?

OK. Do you want to schedule for another day?

B: Que tal se a gente continuar na quarta?

How about if we continue on Wednesday?

A: Bom, deixa eu ver, , pode ser. A mesma hora de sempre?

OK, let me see, yeah, that can work. Same time as always?

B: É, das oito às nove e meia.

Yes, from eight to nine-thirty.

A: Você quer que eu leia o capítulo doze?

Do you want me to read chapter twelve?

B: Não, vamos continuar revisando mais uma vez o capítulo onze.

Os dias da semana — the week counting system
English: the days of the week
Brazilian Portuguese has a unique system for naming weekdays — it counts feira (market day) from Sunday. Domingo is the "Lord's Day" (from Latin Dominicus) and is the anchor of the week. Saturday comes from Sabbath (Sábado). All other days are numbered from 2 to 6.

Quarta-feira4ª feiraWednesday
Quinta-feira5ª feiraThursday
Sexta-feira6ª feiraFriday
SábadoSabbathSaturday
In everyday speech, -feira is often dropped: na quarta, na sexta. Preposition: na + feminine day / no + domingo / sábado.
Na quarta eu tenho aula de português.
On Wednesday I have a Portuguese class. No sábado eu não trabalho.
On Saturday I don't work.
Focus 2
Marcar para + Que tal se…?
English: to schedule for / how about if…?
Marcar para — to schedule, to set a time. Always followed by para + time/day. Very common for appointments, meetings, and classes.

Que tal se + sujeito + verbo? — a polite and colloquial way to make suggestions. The verb after se uses the present tense of the subjunctive, but at A2 level you'll mostly hear and use the present indicative.
Você quer marcar para outro dia?
Do you want to schedule for another day? Que tal se a gente continuar na quarta?
How about if we continue on Wednesday? Que tal se você vem na sexta?
How about if you come on Friday? Posso marcar para as três da tarde?
Can I schedule for 3pm?
Focus 3
Expressões do diálogo + das X às Y
Dialogue expressions + from X to Y (time)
These expressions are all extremely natural in everyday Brazilian speech. Notice how informal the teacher's register is — , pode ser, deixa eu ver — even in a professional context.
Por hoje é só — That's it for today (ending a session)
Não posso — I can't / I'm not available
Deixa eu ver — Let me check / let me see
— OK / yeah (very informal: short for está)
Pode ser — That works / sure / that can work
A mesma hora de sempre — The same time as always
Mais uma vez — One more time
Das oito às nove e meia — From 8 to 9:30
das [hora] às [hora] = from [time] to [time]
🌎 Culture note The Brazilian school week and scheduling culture is very flexible — rescheduling is common and not considered rude. The expression pode ser (literally "it can be") is quintessentially Brazilian: a warm, non-committal "yes" that shows willingness without over-formality. Very different from a legalistic "confirmed."
🔊 Phonology note Listen to deixa eu ver — in fast speech this often sounds like deixaeu ver or even dêxa ver as the words blend. Also note : it's a clipped form of está bem, with a rising or falling intonation that changes meaning — rising = question, falling = agreement.
