Read the dialogue

Two friends debate the pros and cons of dubbed versus subtitled foreign films.

A: Qual você prefere, filme estrangeiro dublado ou legendado?

What do you prefer, foreign movies that are dubbed or subtitled?

B: Sabe, depende dos atores, seria muito difícil, por exemplo, substituir a voz de Morgan Freeman.

You know, it depends on the actors, it would be hard, for example, to substitute the voice of Morgan Freeman.

A: Sei, imagina Darth Vader em outra voz que não seja James Earl Jones.

I know, imagine Darth Vader in a voice other than James Earl Jones.

B: Mas confesso que as vezes não entendo quando falam em inglês.

But I confess that sometimes I don't understand when they talk in English.

A: E com os legendados é duro ter que ler tudo.

And with subtitles it's hard to read everything.

B: É por isso que até prefiro filme brasileiro.

That's why I prefer Brazilian movies.

A: É uma pena que Sean Connery não fale o português.

Yeah, it's too bad Sean Connery doesn't speak Portuguese.

B: "Um Martini, batido, não mexido"

"A Martini, shaken, not stirred."

Seria + adjetivo — Hypothetical opinions

English: it would be (hard/strange/etc.) — hypothetical opinion

Seria (conditional of ser) + adjective expresses a hypothetical judgment about something imagined, not real — softer and more speculative than é.

Seria muito difícil substituir a voz dele.
It would be very hard to replace his voice.Seria estranho ver isso dublado.
It would be strange to see that dubbed.

É uma pena que + sentence expresses regret or disappointment about a situation — a common, gentle way to lament something.

It's a shame there wasn't enough time.

Confesso que — I confess that (review)

English: I confess/admit that (review from Ep 49/63 pattern)

Confesso que introduces a small, honest admission — reinforcing this useful pattern from earlier episodes in a new context.

Confesso que as vezes não entendo quando falam em inglês.
I confess sometimes I don't understand when they speak English.

🎥 Dublagem brasileira Brazil has a long, celebrated tradition of dubbing (dublagem) — many actors become beloved for consistently voicing the same Hollywood stars across their careers.

🔊 Legendado Legendado comes from legenda (subtitle/caption) — note the past participle ending -ado forming the adjective "subtitled."
